Principal Geologist

In response to the increased demand for our geology services, AMC Consultants is looking for a Principal Geologist to work in our Melbourne office.

Who you will be working with and reporting to
Anthony de Veth, is the Technical Services Manager / Principal Mining Consultant and has been with AMC for over 10 years, with more than 20 years of experience in mining. His experience includes geotechnical, mine planning and production with roles in both open pit and underground mines. Anthony has just relocated back to AMC Melbourne after spending some time in the AMC Maidenhead office. Anthony enjoys fishing and follows Sydney Swans in the AFL.

Andrew Hall is the Director / General Manager Melbourne, Andrew has more than 25 years of mining and project management experience. His expertise is predominantly in feasibility study assessment, technical due diligence and business improvement in underground and open pit metalliferous mining projects. Andrew has been with AMC for 24 years. Outside of work Andrew is a keen Collingwood supporter.

Tracie Burrows is a Principal Geologist with over 25 years’ experience in mining geology and resource evaluation. Her experience includes underground production roles, resource estimation, feasibility studies, technical audits and reviews, and project management. Tracie a keen gardener and reader, does not follow a football team!

Tracey Bennett is the Office Manager in Melbourne and has been with AMC for over a year. Tracey is responsible for keeping the office running smoothly and oversees and assists the administration team who will work with you on all project related tasks. The administration team is responsible for booking all Melbourne’s travel requirements and are always happy to assist. If you’re new to Melbourne Tracey will be happy to advise you on the local area.

Now a bit more information about the role
Specialist skills required:
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to clients on project and strategic opportunities.
  • Timely delivery of resource models and reports to a high standard.
  • High level of proficiency in resource estimation and geostatistical software packages.
  • Ability and willingness to act as a Competent Person, as defined by the JORC Code, in at least one style of mineralization.
  • Experience in a range of commodities.
  • Familiarity with reporting codes and rules in different international jurisdictions.
  • Undertake and participate in technical reviews, evaluations, and due diligence reviews.
  • Experience as a mine geologist would be viewed favourably.
  • Solid experience in the areas of project management.
  • Experience in technical consulting would be highly desirable.
  • Business development capability, or commitment to grow business development skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including clients, senior management, technical professionals, and operational personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability in technical writing for reporting and communication.
  • Demonstrated understanding, commitment to, and leadership in safety.
Qualifications required:
  • Tertiary qualification in geology or other related mining discipline with relevant experience.
  • Post graduate qualifications in geostatistics desirable but not required.
  • Minimum of fifteen years of experience in the mining industry.
  • Fluent in English—spoken and written. Secondary language skills viewed favourably.
  • Applicant must have the established right to work in the Australia.
  • Membership of an industry recognized professional organisation
The salary package offered for this position will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate
