Principal/Senior Geostatistician and Data Analyst

AMC is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our integrated team providing mine consulting services to mining companies and mineral project developers. This is a diverse role in which the successful applicant will provide expertise in geostatistics and multivariate data analysis to support feasibility studies, and drive business improvement for operating mines.

Job Description:

The successful applicant will –

  • Work closely with our geologists, mining engineers and geometallurgists to provide innovative solutions for resource modelling and mine planning, grade control and geometallurgical optimization.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, business improvement studies, and a variety of corporate advisory projects.
  • Use their strong interpersonal skills to help clients to achieve significant improvements in the operation and profitability of their mining projects.
  • Maintain understanding of emerging technologies and continue to develop their professional network within the industry

Principal consultants at AMC are expected to effectively use their contacts in the mining industry to generate new opportunities for the company, and to form and lead project teams that deliver outstanding results for our clients.

Specialist Skills Required:

The successful applicant will –

  • Have an understanding of the mining and minerals industry, mine development and mine operating practices.
  • Have an understanding of geology, deposit types, grade control, and mining operations.
  • Demonstrate expert practical knowledge of exploratory data analysis, spatial data analysis, linear and non-linear geostatistical methods.
  • Have practical knowledge of multivariate data analysis, including multiple linear regression, principal components analysis, cluster analysis, etc.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to capture and clearly convey critical observations, analysis and recommendations in a variety of oral and written presentations.

We are seeking an experienced professional with the ability to effectively collaborate within mutidisciplinary teams, with excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic consulting environment..

Qualifications Required:

  • A university degree in geology, mining engineering, or mathematics, preferably with a post-graduate qualification in geostatistics.
  • A minimum of 5 years mining industry experience in operational and/or consulting roles is preferred but post-graduate candidates with practical industry exposure will also be considered.
  • Membership of an industry recognized professional organization would be an advantage.
